The Forever Garden

A town garden designed for a lifetime

Project highlights

Project Type: Garden Design & Project Facilitation

Style: Contemporary Classic

Location: West End, Southampton, Hampshire

The brief

To create a garden with drama, fun and a sense of quality, designed to be enjoyed now and long into the future. Beautiful spaces for relaxing and entertaining were essential, alongside thoughtful, practical details that would make the garden accessible and easy to manage as the clients’ needs change.

The challenges

Creating a garden with real impact and character while quietly incorporating future accessibility — including level surfaces, generous pathways and clearly defined edges — without allowing the practical considerations to dominate the design.

The design

Oak arches, a bespoke pergola and specimen planting create drama and changing views throughout the garden. Mirrors expand the sense of space, while layered planting and carefully chosen materials connect the garden back to the house.

The outcome

A beautiful, characterful garden with spaces for coffee, long lunches and time with friends — designed to evolve with the seasons and continue bringing joy as the clients’ lives and needs change.

“Vicky designed and created the most beautiful garden for me — it’s absolutely perfect in every way. I’m so excited to watch the seasons unfold in it; I know it will be magical and breathtaking throughout the year.

I really appreciated Vicky’s hard work and dedication from start to finish. Her excellent project management and budgetary control skills, along with her network of trusted tradespeople, made the whole experience completely stress-free.

The result is a garden of outstanding quality and beauty that brings me so much joy.”

– Audrey, West End, Hampshire

Featured materials & suppliers

Rustic slate, resin-bound gravel and sandstone connect the garden with the decorative brickwork of the house, complemented by natural oak structures that will weather beautifully over time.
