The brief
To transform a large, open garden into a more intimate and characterful space, filled with interest and discovery. The design needed to create distinct areas for relaxing and entertaining, while providing a journey through the garden and incorporating the clients’ collection of treasured objects and curiosities.
The aim was a garden that felt personal, playful and full of unexpected moments, with planting and features that would encourage exploration rather than reveal everything at once.
The challenges
Creating intimacy and intrigue within a large, open garden, while connecting the different areas and incorporating the clients’ much-loved collection of objects and curiosities.
The design
A series of distinct garden spaces connected by winding pathways, layered planting and carefully placed features, creating changing views and moments of discovery throughout.
The outcome
A characterful and deeply personal garden that invites exploration, with places to pause, entertain and enjoy — and something new to discover around every corner.
